Well, Roman Polansky, famed child molestor, will be brought to his day in court. He was captured in Zurich, Switzerland and is now fighting extradition back to the US to finally face the charges he should have faced before he left the country.

My feeling is that if he were innocent, he would have stayed.

He had plead guilty to the charges and was convicted---but he fled the US before the sentence could be passed---and he has been "on the lam" ever since---so he now goes back for some sort of sentence to be passed----I doubt that based on 20 years of evading his prison or jail time--they are going to be lenient and not make him do the max sentence possible--while I am not sure of this--most likely--his sentence for what he did has to be in line with what was on the books at the time of his conviction and not what someone would face for a conviction of the same offense committed today.

It is about time that he "does his time."

WEll I am glad he got caught, but the victim has called for the charges to be dropped. It seems that according to news reports that he had a deal with the judge presiding over tha case and then the judge told him he would not honor his "deal" and would sentence him accordingly. The sentence would have been 50 years. 30 years on the lam I don't think he can plea bargin that down to anything.
I really have tothnk calmly when child abuse occurs because my attitude goes to the extreme justice of the old west. But Iknow aas a society we
are better than that. my 2 cents

The way I see it is no matter if it was 30 years ago or 30 minutes ago the guy committed a crime against a minor, one that I think should bring an instant death penalty, but of course that's not going to happen, so they should bring down the full weight of the law on him now..........I don't give a flying fuck what anybody says kids should be allowed to be just that KIDS and not for the pleasure of some sick demented fuck.......just my :2cents:

Cheers Chook

Because of his age, other factors and the fact that the survivor has even said she wants the case dismissed, if Polanski gets any time, I have a feeling it will be very little.

And let's not forget that many child molesters are not just "one-time" offenders; they tend to be serial offenders, at least without proper treatment.

That fact makes me wonder how many underage girls he may have done this to, while outside of US jurisdiction. How many more are out there that haven't come to the authorities there?

He should pay the maximum penalty, particularly in light of the fact that he fled incarceration for his crime.

Let the authorities deal with this! I trust them. I like his films.
